Cheque Bounce? You Can File a Criminal Case

When a cheque bounces, it’s not just a financial problem—it’s a criminal offence under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

⚖️ You can:

Send a legal notice within 30 days of the bounce.

File a complaint in court if there’s no response in 15 days.

Penalty? Up to 2 years in jail, a fine, or both.

💼 Always take cheque payments seriously—on both ends.
